Bio: Katia Fuentes was born in Mexico City, where she earned her degree in Art and Communication at the University Nuevo Mundo.
She studied photography at the Mass College of Art and New England School Of Photography. Her work always been focused on a personal scale, with socio-political and cultural underpinnings.
She has been living in the Mission of San Francisco since 1998. She has been involved in Solo and Group shows at Art Museum of the Americas and Prada Gallery in Washington D.C., Maryland Art Place in Maryland, Nurture Art in New York, Somarts SF, SF Photography Center, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts, Fort Mason, Casa del Libro, Melting Point Gallery and The Mexican Museum.
Her Self-portrait as a Mexican Saint was published by Camera Arts magazine and in many local publications. Her artwork has been broadcasted by Latin Eyes, Univision and The Matt Gonzalez TV Show.
She is a member of the artist organization Project Artaud where she shows new work every year during SF Open Studios. She also contributes as a writer and photographer for El Mensajero newspaper and other Spanish publications. Some of her journalism work is at www.fuenteseye.net
