Tilroe Stevenson
Bio:
I grew up in the rural Southern San Jaquin Valley. One of ten children born to TC and Ella Stevenson. My father worked at farm labor. We were poor and my parents relied on subsistence farming to get us through.
I fell in love with drawing at an early age. I spent what seem to be hours drawing. In school I would take request from other students and draw their favorite cartoon characters or superheros. I continued drawing and studied art at the local community college. I eventually moved to Northern California with loose plans to finish my studies. It was a path (pursuing art) that zigged and zagged.I had a child, a beautiful daughter, I dropped out of school got a job and played music for about twelve years. I re entered academia around 1998. I attended CCAC and graduated with a BFA in 2000. After a short hiatus from working I began painting and drawing again and showed at every opportunity. Art making: It is about honesty. Nothing is deliberate but it's all deliberate... at least that's how it turns out in the end.
