Pirate Vereker

Bio: Born with only one eye open somewhere in south London, Pirate Vereker grew up naturally seeing things in a slightly peculiar fashion. Some years passed, then, while still at a young enough age, he packed up, and like a bindlestiff headed west to seek his fortune; skewed vision in tow. Over a decade later he wound up living and painting in the heart of San Francisco's Mission, where he currently dislikes talking about himself in the third person immensely..

I paint mostly because I don't know what else to do with my hands; and generally speaking, it makes me happy. I'm never too sure what's going to happen when face to face with a canvas. But in one way, shape or form I suppose my paintings are just a translation of that particular days thoughts: mostly colourful and inky messes.
My style was once described as a cross between Ralph Steadman and Doctor Seuss. I like that description quite well. As for the content... Well, I think its trapped somewhere between an old wives' tale and a children's fable.
